What do you like better? A large mound of dirt?

Or a beautiful park that families could use?

Dogs could poop in?

Does anyone know the official word on the condo building? Is it just on hold until they sell enough units or is it cancelled?

I guess a park is a good idea. It would be kind of odd to have a park up against an alley and two busy streets, but anything is better than what's there.

Does anyone know who owns the land?

I agree, the building that stood before it was demolished was a great example of Chicago land architecture and I was sad to see it torn down. Hopefully something can be done with that piece of land soon.

Pat~ as for the ownership, that information should be available through the freedom of information act through the city clerks office.

I'd love to start a garden there actually...local farm anyone? :)

I live in an apartment behind it and would love to see a beautiful space from my window.

First off, does Evanston own this land?
If they do, a park would be a wonderful addition to this part of the neighborhood. Though, a park is quite vague. It should be done with care and thought. There are many parks in the neighborhood, and a park in this specific location should really be looked at with some vision in order to really be woven into its surroundings and the feel of the neighborhood. It would be great to let the people decide what this type of community land should and could look like. Anyone have specific ideas of what could make it truly special and add character well bringing positive growth to local small businesses?

It is for sure owned by a private person or business. It is a City of Evanston Ordinance that the land could not sit there as it was, a large hole. The owner had to fill it or face steep fines.
